U19 Excellence in Piombino for the 32nd Carnival Cup. Ablatico: “An honor to have been invited to such a prestigious tournament on the national youth scene”
Just over a week after the qualification for the Final Eight of Next Gen Cup di Legabasket, For the Bertram Yachts it's time again to compare ourselves with many of the excellences of the national panoramaUnder 19 Excellence. The young Juventus team will travel tomorrow morning to Piombino where in the early afternoon, al PalaTent of the Tuscan city, will debut in 32nd Carnival Cup, which has long been a sort of appetizer for the National Category Final which has in its roll of honor several clubs that have made the history of Italian youth basketball and which also this year presents a highly attractive parterre.
The reigning champion presents himself at the event.Orange1 Basket Bassano, the very opponent of the debut of Tortonesi, inserted in Group A together with also Next Step Academy Rapallo e Forlì Basketball 2.015. They are in the other group EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, GeVi Naples, Stella Azzurra Rome and the hosts of the Piombino Basketball. The top two in each group at the end of the three days of the qualifying phase will qualify for the semi-finals, while the others will return home. With the regulation that allows a maximum of two loans per team to be included in the usual roster, Bertram will only take advantage of one by bringing in again from Roseto Basket 20.20pm the 2005 Ousmane Maiga, already wearing the black and white jersey in the three victories out of three in the first stage of the Next Gen Cup in Pesaro.
The individual awards of the event include the MVP "Gianluca Mantovani Trophy", the Best Quintet, the Best Scorer and the Best Young Player, plus the winner of the "Chicco Ravaglia Memorial" three-point shooting competition.

The executive vice president of the Derthona Basketball Lab, Andrea Ablatico: “You don't participate in the Piombino Carnival Cup by winning something or paying for an entry. You must be invited to the Carnival Cup. And it's not for everyone. I want to share the pride of this invitation with all the staff and managers of the Derthona Basket family. This fact shows how even outside Tortona our work is starting to be noticed and appreciated.
The reason for pride is simple: 32 editions with a frightening Roll of Honor, high-level organisation, a tradition that is almost unique in Italy.
Only one other time had it happened, with Massimo Olivieri's U19 in 2020. But there Covid swept everything away.
Now we return with Luca Ansaloni in command.
The result will be accessory. We are coming from a period of obscurity but the ultimate objective must always be the improvement of the kids on and off the pitch and the prestigious opportunity that Piombino Basketball (and President Francesco Barsotti) offers us to compete with a good part of the best of the Italian youth panorama U19 comes at the right time to test us.
