The words of Gianni Petrucci on Radio anch'io sport
Important statements by Gianni Petrucci, president of the Italian Basketball Federation, during his speech in today's episode, Monday 2 March 2020, of Radio sports too on Radio 1 Rai. Petrucci affirmed the need to ʺplay in any conditions, with doors open or closed, on Sunday 8 March. There is no possibility of further postponements as a very important Pre-Olympic awaits us in the summer. In recent days I have had the closeness of the President of CONI Giovanni Malagò, of Luigi Di Maio and of the Minister for Youth Policies and Sport Vincenzo Spadaforaʺ.
ʺFootball and basketball – stated the FIP President – they are the only two professional sports and in basketball there are entrepreneurs known and important in the world such as Giorgio Armani, Massimo Zanetti, Luigi Brugnaro and Beniamino Gavio. Sport represents a very important economic sector of the country and has a significant social action and functionʺ.
Petrucci then concluded his speech by claiming that the FIP ʺwill listen to all the requests of the Serie A clubs, who have elected Umberto Gandini as new CEO, also for the playoffs. I reiterate the need to play next weekend in any conditions to avoid overlapping datesʺ.
