The special uniform for the Italian Cup was delivered to Mayor Bardone
This morning at the Sala Romita of the Municipality of Tortona, the president Roberto Tava and the representative of the main sponsor Bertram Yatch Beniamino Gavio delivered the uniform celebrating the qualification for the Final Eight of the LNP Italian Cup, scheduled from Friday to Sunday in Jesi.
Thus Roberto Tava, president of Derthona Basket: “We celebrate an unexpected qualification with an exclusive edition of our playing shirt, facing an event that gives us visibility and places us in the top eight teams of the second national championship in the best way. We chose the color red in honor of the city of Tortona, paying homage to our history with the rampant Lion on the shorts and with the writing "Derthona Basket" in the same font as the historical uniforms of the 80s. The tricolor border and the Final Eight logo recall the event in which we will participate, raising the name of our city and its bond with our team. A bond that we would like to seal as soon as possible, returning to play in our city."
The word then passed to Dr. Gavio, who outlined his first adventure as the main sponsor of the Club: "Initially I approached basketball with the intention of lending a hand to people I knew and respected, but as Over time I have immersed myself enthusiastically in this reality, becoming increasingly passionate until the derby I experienced in the front row last night. The evolution of things has allowed us to think of something big, which in perspective can give this city and this territory an important result, sealing the great work that has been done by the management of this Club to reach this level. We are working on an important project on the sports hall, which we will present the week following the elections and which we would like to complete in time to play the 2019/20 season in Tortona, also in response to those who came two years ago to count the seats at the sports hall in Voghera. This is a project that does not want to remain confined to Derthona Basket, but which also wants to be an opportunity for Castelnuovo women's basketball and for other clubs that may need it. We will build external fields and a sort of sports citadel, with gym and bar, also collaborating with Arena Derthona to create an event plan for the city within a system in which all categories feel represented. In our idea it will be a structure that can allow the territory to be better known and appreciated, which is not a cathedral in the desert but which is a container for all the activities of Tortona and the Tortona area.
Mayor Gianluca Bardone replied: “I am happy for the words of Doctor Gavio, who has demonstrated in words and deeds that he is now "one of us", who suffer weekly with and for Derthona. I am happy for the excellent moment that he is experiencing with basketball, as well as what is being done for football fans. I appreciate that football fans are also supporters of basketball, it's about "team building" which can only have positive implications for Tortona sport. In relation to the sports hall, bringing a club back to Tortona that is a credit to the city and having the possibility of solving the problem of the availability of gyms for youth sports in the city is an opportunity not to be missed, also in terms of public utility. For this reason the administration is fully at the disposal of this project."
The word then passed to the sports councilor, Vittoria Colacino: “I congratulate the team and the club for another result that has made us proud. The gesture of the color of the shirt dedicated to our city is touching, a clear sign of a bond with a city that can't wait to continue dreaming, perhaps already from the Italian Cup at the weekend."
The closing is for Beniamino Gavio: “I am happy to have seen the football and basketball fans together at the PalaFerraris. What matters to us is our territory."
