Gulliver Supermercati Derthona Tortona immediately returned to success in the Interregional Serie B championship . After the home defeat in the provincial derby against Junior Libertas Casale, the young black and white team conquered the Boffalora Sopra Ticino (MI) sports hall, defeating the home team Magic Oleggio Basket 68-67 , repeating their victory in the first leg in the midweek round of the 17th matchday of the Division A Conference North-West of the fourth national series.
After a partial first-half run, which ended with a game-high lead of +8 (37-45) thanks in part to Errica's 14 points, Derthona lost momentum on offense after returning from the locker rooms, scoring only 7 points in the third quarter and suffering a comeback from Oleggio, who completed the comeback to tie the score at 53-33 early in the final quarter. Two consecutive baskets from Conte (all 15 points since the end of the second quarter), one from Errica, and two consecutive from Tambwe (a double-double of 14+10 rebounds) gave the visitors a boost, leading 59-65 with just minutes remaining. The home team didn't give up, led by their best player of the match, point guard Perez, and they got back to within a close 67-68 with 52" remaining. Tortona lost the ball on offense, and Oleggio started with 28" on the scoreboard in their final push to try and win. However, Ianelli's three-pointer went off the rail with 2" to go, and on the subsequent inbound, once again handled by Oleggio, the home team's basket arrived with time running out, sparking joy for the young Bianconeri. With their tenth win in 17 games, they strengthened their position in the Play-In Gold zone, rejoining Junior Libertas Casale in third place ahead of today's home match against Campus Varese, and displacing former teammate 7 Laghi Gazzada, who were defeated on the hardwood of league leaders Saronno.
Tomorrow , Friday 19th, will be the next round : Collegno Basket is expected to arrive at 8.45pm at PalaCamagna.
