Towards Bertram Derthona-Fortitudo Kigili Bologna: the words of coach Ramondino and Tavernelli
Bertram Derthona returns to the field, after the break for the qualifying window for the FIBA World Cup 2023: in the tenth round of the championship, the team coached by coach Ramondino will host the Fortitudo Kigili Bologna (two-ball tomorrow, Sunday December 5, 20.45 hours al PalaEnergica Paolo Ferraris of Casale Monferrato).
It was precisely the one who presented the challenge to Fortitudo head coach of Bertram, who began his comment thus: ʺFor us it is a special match, because we face an opponent who is changing shape and face, not only in terms of roster but also in terms of identity, technique and tactics. Fortitudo started this season with different ranking ambitions compared to the position it currently occupies and has high quality players such as Durham, skilled in reading the pick'n'roll, Aradori who is a great striker and experienced and athletic big men like Groselle. I think Bologna isn't performing as well as it could because it hasn't found the right balance yet, but we know that it's a team capable of producing great performancesʺ.
Coach Ramondino then focused on the path taken so far by Bertram and the work done in the last two weeks: ʺOur team must learn from mistakes and make the most of them, to improve. We have great room for growth in defence, where inconsistency and superficiality can be seen more. As for the players, in the difficulties of these non-linear weeks, their application is total. As a staff we are happy with the efforts that each of them is making in terms of attention, discipline and execution: the kids' predisposition to overcome difficulties is a very positive aspectʺ.
ʺThe verification of the work is always the game – concluded the Derthona coach – and I'm happy to see everyone's awareness of the things to improve on. As a staff we prepare each match with different plans, then deciding how to start the match and having the flexibility to change faces and choices along the way. To do this it is necessary to combine the strategic aspect with the technical and tactical ones.

Alongside coach Ramondino, he spoke at the press conference Riccardo Tavernelli, who described the match awaiting Derthona as follows: ʺWe will find a team that is changing a lot and of which we do not yet know who can be the leaders in decisive moments. For this reason we used the break period to work a lot on ourselves and to fix our shortcomings. For example, in defense sometimes we lack reading of the situation, all five of us are unable to be in the right position: it's a question of concentration and reliability, we are working to improveʺ.
The Bertram captain then concluded by talking about his adaptation to Serie A as a rookie, underlining how ʺthe Super Cup matches were useful in making me realize the greater level of physicality and athleticism that I would have found in the championship. Compared to the A2, a big change is also due to the number of foreigners on the field. However, I believe that basketball is unique and therefore we can adapt quickly.
