“Teddy Bear Toss”: also on Sunday at Palaoltrepo for Derthona – Piacenza
Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro announces that it has received authorization from the Italian Basketball Federation to start organizing the days of "Teddy Bear Toss” on Serie A2 pitches. In recent days LNP had joined the initiative promoted by "La Giorno Tipo", taking action regarding the more institutional side of the organization, representing and protecting the A2 Gold and A2 Silver Serie Clubs that would like to join.
The "Teddy Bear Toss” has an American origin, promoted mainly in the ice hockey championship. “La Giorno Tipo” has decided to replicate it in Italy with meritorious purposes and aimed at children hospitalized in the pediatric departments of the cities which are also home to the teams participating in the Serie A2 Gold and Silver championship. On 14 and 21 December, spectators will be invited to bring teddy bears to the game, to be thrown onto the pitch after the first basket scored.
The FIP, by joining the initiative, has shown itself willing to cancel the disciplinary measures that could be imposed, by regulation, for the obvious suspension of the race in the time necessary to collect the stuffed animals donated by the fans.
In the following days the players of the various teams will be involved in the delivery of the stuffed animals collected to the pediatric departments of the city hospitals.
The “Teddy Bear Toss” has also received the support of the PETER PAN ONLUS association which offers free hospitality to children victims of cancer and their families.
