Massimo Bisin: “Say yes to Derthona? It was easy"

In a PalaCamagna crowded with parents and media, in the presence of the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Tortona Vittoria Colacino, the Technical manager of the youth sector of Derthona Basketball Massimo Bisin: fifty-nine year old from Milan, former technical manager of national youth clubs such as Olimpia Milano and Dinamo Sassari, he also boasts experience as an assistant coach on renowned Serie A benches alongside coaches such as Trincheri and Cancellieri.

“We went as far as we could with our energy – thus opened the press conference Andrea Ablatico, manager responsible for the youth sector – and in 5 years we have gone from 120 a 210 members from Minibasketball to Under18, working in the area and intensifying relationships with friendly clubs. We will shortly announce the details of an agreement with Olympia Voghera which will strengthen the trust which already sees us involved with numerous clubs in the area but, in the wake of the enthusiasm linked to the first team, thanks to the active participation in all the our activities Gavio Group – present at the evening in the person of Dr. Beniamino Gavio - we also want to implement the youth structure. From this perspective, a person of enormous human and technical value was needed, such as Massimo Bisin. We leave it to him to take a further step even in the face of a substantial economic investment, to underline the importance of our kids for us."

After the institutional greetings of theCouncilor Colacino to the new coach and the thanks of the authorities for what Derthona Basket carries out in favor of the new recruits spoke on President Roberto Tava.

“Our goal is to bring all the kids in the province and the area to have the objective of wearing the black and white shirt of Derthona Basket. We want to become, even more than today, a point of reference for families and athletes. The involvement of a big name such as Massimo Bisin in our projects fits into all of this. The new building, which will be presented on 18 July in Square Allende, will fuel new enthusiasm and we must be ready."

Massimo Bisin he then spoke about his experiences and the enthusiasm with which he approaches this new adventure.
"I arrive at Derthona with a two-year contract, which aims to be the basis of a much more project broad depth and duration, which involves the technical and social sides of this fantastic sport of ours. I see a lot of enthusiasm around this company and I want to add mine to get as high as possible. I would like to underline how, despite the extraordinary adventures I have experienced in the senior field, I have always felt like a youth sector coach, for everything that the kids are able to convey to me and for what I feel I can convey to them. We are a buffer between Minibasketball, which I will deal with personally anyway, and the first team; from this perspective our work must be particularly careful. I thank everyone, but I want to say a word for Lorenzo Pansa, who from the first contact showed me how all Derthona Basket's activities are actively linked to each other. I saw an attentive and prepared staff and, obviously, I can't wait to start working with them."

After the press conference we asked for a couple more statements from Massimo Bisin regarding what the goals of a Technical manager of the Youth Sector – a role in which he can boast a long and important career – and what convinced him to undertake this one new adventure at Bertram Derthona.

“I am always grateful for the great experience that is recognized in me, but at the same time I am worried about it because it means that I am getting old…” jokes Massimo Bisin. “Getting serious, the goal is to increasingly raise the bar of our business. I would like the youth sector to act as a reservoir for the first team. I know how difficult it is to build players ready for Serie A, but this will be our line: managing to train kids who can, over time, act as support to the first team. I am happy to meet up with Lorenzo Pansa, who I know from previous experiences: I am well informed about his past in the youth sector and I know that I will be able to count on an identical view with him."

So on arriving at Derthona: “Saying yes to this Club was easy. I have always heard positive things about this project, which has grown significantly with the entry of Dr. Gavio, so much so that it has few equals in Italy at the moment. I am therefore very motivated and grateful to have joined this company at this historical moment. For this reason, I would like to thank the whole club for this opportunity, from the president Roberto Tava to the management staff and in particular Andrea Ablatico, manager responsible for the youth sector".
