Derthona's Under 17 Excellence at the “1st PBP Tournament” in Parma
The Bertram Derthona youth team will have their first outing of the season with a trophy up for grabs . The Under 17 Excellence team will be the first to take to the court, participating in the inaugural PBP Tournament in Parma next weekend . The team, coached by Luca Ansaloni , the Juventus youth team's technical director, is one of six invited by the Parma Basket Project organizers to the competition, which will take place from Friday the 24th to Sunday the 26th at the PalaMoisè and PalaCiti in the Emilian city.
OPPONENTS AND FORMULA In addition to Derthona Basket , Virtus Bologna , Vanoli Cremona , Fortitudo Bologna , FIPP Pordenone and the home team Parma Basket Project will be present , teams divided into two groups: Black and Silver. Fortitudo and FIPP (Futuro Insieme Pallacanestro Pordenone) will be the opponents of the young black and whites in the group stage of the first two days, which will determine the qualifiers for Sunday's finals. For the Lions' quintet, the matches in the Silver group are both scheduled for Saturday at the PalaCiti , at 11 am against the Friulians and at 4 pm against the Bolognese . The top-placed teams in each group will qualify for the title final, while the second and third-place teams will face the respective 3rd-16th place and 5th-6th place finals.
STATEMENTS “ For us, this is one of the few opportunities to have our U17 team play. Given how we've structured our work, this tournament gives us the opportunity to put the team together and not just see where these guys are at. Therefore, it will be an important opportunity to observe after the first month of training ,” says coach Ansaloni . “ What would I like to observe in particular? Having worked so hard on fundamentals and purely technical issues related to individual players, it would be nice to see some signs of this. Conversely, I don't expect to be able to evaluate how we'll play as a team at this stage, although it's obviously something that will interest us more in the near future. Now, both on our part as a coaching staff and on their part as players, the most important thing is to pay close attention to these aspects of individual technique .”
