Lions on the pitch alongside AIDO for YES Day

Being increasingly present in the area is one of the objectives of Bertram Yachts Derthona, which has decided to support AIDO - Italian Association for the Donation of Organs, Tissues and Cells, which for 47 years has been committed to spreading the culture of Donation - on the occasion of the YES Day which will culminate on Sunday 27 September 2020.

Due to the limitations of the competent authorities aimed at preventing contagion from COVID-19, this year the national AIDO launched a campaign, lasting three weeks (14 September - 4 October), to talk about Donation in a different way.

In the province of Alessandria, under the presidency of Nadia Biancato - who leads eight municipal groups including that of Tortona and the Lower Scrivia Valley - AIDO is very active: on Sunday 13 September, in fact, a successful AperiAIDO took place at the Gran Bar Bardoneschi in the presence of the Mayor Federico Chiodi and about a hundred people from Tortona. This event represented a national preview of YES Day and, on that date, the first YES to Donation were expressed.

The events in the province will continue in the coming weeks, in different places and involving different segments of the population. The sole objective is to raise awareness of Organ Donation.

With a view to promoting this initiative, of great importance, Derthona Basket has decided - as a team - to take to the field alongside AIDO and its volunteers: this collaboration, with the claim DIMMI DI YES, was signed by Nadia Biancato and by General Manager Ferencz Bartocci at the “Uccio Camagna” stadium in Tortona, the operational headquarters of the Lions.

Derthona Basket invites all its members to inform themselves on the sites www.aido.it and www.giornatadelsi.it, and don't miss this opportunity to express your will: saying YES to Donation means saying YES to LIFE.

"At this moment there are 8.000 Italians waiting for a transplant. Our YES represent hope for these people. Say YES today it doesn't mean donating. Only one person out of 3.000 who voted YES to post-mortem organ donation will be an actual donor. But saying YES now means making a gesture of altruism by thinking about the suffering of those waiting for a transplant, being aware that without donation there can be no transplant. The Donation has no age. Anyone can be a donor even over the age of 90. But to express your YES you must be of age. Don't wait. Find out more on our sites, on our Facebook pages and follow the example of Derthona Basket. Tell your friends about it. All together we can increase the number of potential Donors who today it is just over 10% of the Italian adult population” states the provincial president of AIDO Nadia Biancato.
