Demis Cavina looks ahead to game 4: “I'm confident in an emotional reaction that will give us the extension of the series”

It's a Derthona convinced of his abilities who finds himself on the rest day between the third and fourth act of the playoff series against Trieste. Down 2-1 in the series, 24 hours after the return to the boiling pitch of PalaTrieste, coach Demis Cavina speaks for everyone: "I am convinced that it will be fundamental to start the match as we played the first quarter of game 3, playing with the energy of the last quarter. We certainly face a team that is longer and more experienced than us, with a field factor that gives a notable boost to their players; for this reason we must avoid the offensive errors, some even banal, that we committed in the two central quarters and which allowed Trieste to take a good lead."
The break suffered at the start of the second quarter resulted in some episodes which saw Alma fly away in the score in a few moments: “We must avoid these tears – replies Cavina – without distorting our game which, especially with the injuries to which we are facing, is however based on race; in the middle of the pitch we risk suffering the greater athleticism of our opponents."
The adjustments to be made between the matches are clear to everyone: "We reviewed Saturday night's match together and saw that there are many team details to improve, even if we cannot ignore the good performances of the individuals. We are the same ones from the surprising regular season and the same ones who passed the round against Mantua, so I am very confident in an emotional reaction that will give us the extension of the series."
In closing, the point on the injured: "Valerio Cucci joined the team in retreat for game 3, but at the moment the condition of his injured calf does not allow him to train and play with his teammates. The conditions of Davide Alviti are improving, as he was able to play thanks to the brace on the little finger of his left hand, while the situation of Giampaolo Ricci, still struggling with his fractured wrist, is stable.”
