Derthona Basket press conferenceThe press conference organized by Derthona Basket in collaboration with Arena Derthona took place in front of a large number of supporters.

After the greetings of the Mayor Bardone and subsequently of the sports councilor Colacino, it was President Tava who opened the proceedings by recalling that Derthona Basket is not just A2 but that the club can exist and will continue to exist thanks to the perfect mix of management, collaborators, fans, parents and youth boys and girls.

Instead, it fell to vice president Orsi to take stock of the building issue: the area where the new structure will be built has already been identified but the unfavorable economic situation makes it difficult to find private financiers. In the meantime, we will continue to play in Voghera and thanks to the availability of the municipal administration, the possibility of taking various steps to improve the PalaOltrepò to remain in line with the requests of the Basketball League.

Marco Picchi has the task of talking about basketball: “in seven years we have gone from the sixth Italian championship to the second. We can say that there are only 16 teams in Italy ahead of us and this should make us proud. Having said that, the desire is to always do better and in this spirit we present the two new signings: Luca Garri and Marco Ammannato.

Luca Garri, born in 1982 in Asti, comes from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto.

In 1999/00 he played his first season in Serie A, with the Montecatini shirt and then moved to Livorno where he remained for 4 seasons showing off.

In 2004/05 he moved to Virtus Roma, finishing the season with 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.9 minutes.

In 2005/06 he moved to Biella, where he played one of his best seasons in Serie A (10.9 points and 6.1 rebounds in 27.2 minutes on average). He returns to Rome the following season but with a decidedly reduced job. In 2007/08 he came to Virtus Bologna, with whom he finished with 5.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.4 minutes.

The following two seasons marked his return to Biella (8.2 points and 5.7 rebounds the first year; 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds the second year). In 2010/11 he moved to Juve Caserta (6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.5 minutes), also playing in the EuroCup before also wearing the Pall jersey. Varese in 2011/12 (4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 18.2 minutes).

In the 2011/12 season he accepted the project of the newly promoted Aquila Basket Trento and played in the LegaDue championship, contributing to the playoffs. In 2013/2014 he played in Ferentino, again in LegaDue, finishing with a score of 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.6 minutes on average. Last season in Barcelona where he finished with 13.3 points and 9.8 rebounds in almost 32 minutes of play.

He was part of the Under 20 national team in 2002 and of the senior national team from 2002 to 2009, with which he won silver at the 2009 Athens Olympics and gold at the 2005 Almeria Mediterranean Games.

Marco Ammannato, born in 1988 in Bagno a Ripoli, has been in Reggio Calabria for 3 seasons.

He went through the youth ranks in Tuscany and then began to show off in Empoli where in 2007 he won the B2 Italian Cup and then moved to Virtus Siena. In 2008 the leap into basketball which counts with two Legadue championships in Pavia (3.4 points in 12 minutes of use the first year, 5 points in 15 minutes the second year). Then a year in Omegna with 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 24.4 minutes and a season in Veroli, still in the Legadue, but with reduced use. Then three years as a protagonist in Reggio Calabria: 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds the first year, 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds and 9.2 points and 5.2 rebounds in almost 28 minutes of use in the last season.

He played in the Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 national teams with which he won bronze at the 2007 European Championships.

Garri said he was enthusiastic about the new experience, explaining that no player in Italy has ever spoken badly about Derthona Basket and that this aspect, combined with the desire to get closer to home, led him to this life choice. Ammannato, visibly emotional, explained that he wanted to write a new page in his story as a player and as a man, recalling that he rarely found himself in front of a hundred people during a presentation.

Luigino Fassino concluded the press conference with a dutiful reminder of all the people who have supported Derthona over the years and who now support it from heaven.

The season ticket campaign was also presented and some details remain to be defined and the final prices of which will be communicated after the official number of teams registered in the group. Certainly the season ticket for all home matches except one (which will be defined by the club). From Monday 6 July, for two weeks, season ticket holders from last season will be able to opt-in to renew their season ticket by going to the offices at PalaCamagna. From July 20th, season tickets will be available for everyone.

For individual matches they will range between 7 and 20 euros (depending on the seat chosen) with discounts for children, teenagers and pensioners.

Charly Bergaglio, representing Arena Derthona, illustrated the upcoming events that will take place in the city and which will culminate with concerts by Burt Bacharach, Stefano Bollani, Caparezza and Subsonica in the period between 13 and 17 July. In addition to the concerts there will be collateral events with cinema personalities and street food prepared by local restaurateurs.
