There are many memories of Derthona Basket's adventure at the Final Four of the Italian Cup in Rimini. Happy memories: the setting of the Fair where the event took place; the preparation of the competition fields; the walk along the seafront in winter; the cold north-east wind; the Grand Hotel Excelsior; fish-based dinner; hip-hop concerts; the after-dinner discos; the caravan of Tortona cars in Viale Vespucci; the writings on the beach of the mini basketball players of Tortona; the Sunday trip to San Marino.
Bitter memories, however, from the parquet, where Derthona exited the scene in the semi-final after only a few minutes of play, surrendering in the face of the technical superiority of Latina, the stellar percentages of Carrizo, Pilotti and Tagliabue, the fluid play of the Lazio players, who in the end they deservedly won the coveted trophy even if in the final, Legnano made them suffer more than expected and tried in every way until the end, something that the bianconeri did not succeed at all, among which only the professionalism of Rotondo was saved and little on the other.
The over 200 Tortona fans, including entire families, were hoping for something more, following Gioria & his companions who (for the first time in the history of the Juventus club) even besieged some local hotels, hoping for a great weekend and to whom goes all the recognition of the company. Next Sunday there will be 500 at PalaCamagna (there's no room for more) against Cento of top scorer Di Trani, hoping for a reaction from Arioli's boys... and they deserve it!
