Bertram Yachts Derthona fell on their debut in the Supercoppa Centenario, chasing Reale Mutua Torino for almost the entire match, without managing to overtake and surrendering at the siren 62-75. Traditional quintet for coach Ramondino in the first official outing of the 2020/21 season. The first minutes of the match flow in the name of balance, thanks to the play of Clark and Cannon: after 3' Torino leads 6-7. In the following moments, Pinkins and Diop took Torino to their maximum advantage in the match (8-16 at 6'); after the three-point play and the new support from the guest number 35, coach Ramondino stops the game. In the final actions of the first quarter, Fabi, Bushati and Penna (who converted the free throws for the unsportsmanlike fine given to Mascolo) move the score: Torino leads 17-25 at 10'. At the start of the second half, the team coached by Cavina found their first double-digit lead of the match with the play of Alibegovic and fueled the partial with Diop: in the 16th minute the guests led 24-41. In the last actions of the first half, Derthona tried to get back into the game, but with Toscano's tap-in at the siren, Reale Mutua closed ahead 32-47 in the 20th minute. Bertram reaction upon returning from the locker room: Tavernelli, Fabi and Cannon achieve a 9-5 break which is worth 41-52 in the 24th minute. During the half, Torino slowed down the pace of their game and allowed Derthona - who found greater offensive fluidity - to get back under the double-digit deficit with a four-point play by Fabi (49-55) in the 29th minute. The third quarter ends with Clark's triple and Cannon's tap-in, which sets the score at 51-58. The last period is opened by baskets from Diop and Sanders; then it was the same visiting big man and Cappelletti who gave Reale Mutua the double-digit lead (53-64) in the 34th minute, forcing coach Ramondino to stop the match. After a few minutes in which both teams couldn't find the way to the basket, a triple from Fabi unlocked Bertram, who returned to -10 (56-66) with 120 seconds to go. In the following actions, two consecutive triples by Cappelletti gave Reale Mutua success, which won 62-75. The next Super Cup match will see Derthona playing at the PalaFerraris in Casale Monferrato on Sunday 18 October at 18.00pm against JB Monferrato.
