Derthona alongside the Solidarity Mensa: aprons given to volunteers
A new solidarity initiative in favor of the city as part of the project 'We plant the future': Wednesday 26 January a representation of Derthona Basket made up of Bruno Mascolo, Luca Severini, Mike Daum and Chris Wright, first team players, and from Ferencz Bartocci, CEO of the company, went to the former House of the Young of Tortona (located in Via Baluardo) to pay homage with 65 DB logo aprons the volunteers of Solidarity canteen 'Carlo Boggio Sola'.
The Solidarity Canteen is a project born from the initiative of Cassa di Risparmio di Tortona Foundation, which has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Municipality of Tortona and the Diocesan Caritas. The latter manages the canteen together with the Agape Social Cooperative within the premises that have been granted by Parish of Santa Maria Assunta and San Lorenzo (Tortona Cathedral).
The Solidarity Canteen named after Carlo Boggio Sola, former President of the CRT Foundation, which moved to the new headquarters starting from 1 November 2021, is open every day of the year and offers a daily service of approximately 40 meals, equally divided between lunch and dinner. This service wants to be shared by the whole city: Derthona Basket, with a view to becoming increasingly rooted in the territory, has supported it with a small gesture towards those who, every day, carry out an assistance service for the less fortunate lucky.
A further testimony of how important this project is considered for the city of Tortona is the presence - at the delivery of the aprons by Derthona Basket - of all the representatives of the main institutions that gave life to and supported this solidarity initiative: Pier Luigi Rognoni e Ilaria Balduzzi, President and Vice President of the CRT Foundation, Don Francesco La Rocca, Co-Director of Caritas and President of the Agape Social Cooperative, Roberto Garrone, Director of Agape e Luca Simoni, Co-director of the Diocesan Caritas.
During yesterday morning, the Derthona Basket representation listened with great participation to the story of the volunteers' work and the prayer of Don Primo Mazzolari, then visiting the premises of the Solidarity Canteen. At the end of the meeting with the volunteers, the first team players gave them a autographed game ball.
