Edoardo Buffo: “Basketball Without Borders was unforgettable. An honor to be in Tortona”
A memorable start to the season for Edoardo Buffo , the new addition to the Bertram Derthona Youth Sector : the 2001-born player participated in Basketball Without Borders Europe, the prestigious camp organized by the NBA and FIBA, held in Belgrade. For Buffo, "being invited to such an important event was very satisfying, because I had the opportunity to interact with top-level personalities, including Gregg Popovich. The Spurs coach is someone whose presence enriches both on a basketball level and on a human level; he is able to put everyone around him at ease. The meeting with Trinchieri was also pleasant, as was the meeting with the dignitaries present in Belgrade . "
The camp pitted some of the best European prospects of the 2001 season against each other, a great opportunity that Buffo took advantage of to "see if I could keep up with that level and pace. Athletically, the level was very high, but from a technical standpoint, I think I managed to hold my ground well: for me, this is a very important starting point for growing and trying to reach the best possible level."
Basketball Without Borders was a useful experience for Buffo, not only on a basketball level, but also on a human level, because " I met people from other countries with whom I lived in a hotel: I formed a good friendship with them. Being able to then compare myself with some EuroLeague players, especially Serbian ones, allowed me to receive useful advice to improve some aspects of my game ."
After his prestigious experience in Belgrade, the player has already begun training with the Bertram Derthona first team : this season, the guard will also play with the Under 18 DNG and the C Silver team of Olympia Voghera. After the year at Virtus Bologna, Buffo shared his first impressions of his new sporting reality, which "seems very beautiful and full of people who want to do well this year. It will be my first experience at the senior level, having the opportunity to train with great players is an honor for me and I will always try to put in the maximum effort to respect the jersey I will wear on every occasion ."
