Allianz and Derthona Basket together for the development of the youth sector: the partnership presented in Torre Allianz
Allianz e Derthona Basketball presented this morning in Torre Allianz, the Milanese headquarters of the insurance-financial group led by CEO Giacomo Campora, the partnership which will see Allianz alongside the Tortona sports club, owned by the Gavio Group chaired by Beniamino Gavio.
Allianz will support the "Leoni" of Tortona for five sporting seasons until 2027/2028 with a particular focus on the youth sector, and will support Derthona in its new social projects, with the aim of focusing on sport as a promoter of the values of inclusion and valorisation of potential of everyone, especially the youngest.
Derthona Basket has been the protagonist of a great rise in recent years and has become a meeting place for many young athletes of all ages. Very recent, the victory of the Women's 3 x3 Under 16 Italian Champions title won by the Derthona Under 16 Giraffes.
The importance that Allianz and Derthona attribute to sport as a lever for personal and social development was the focus of today's presentation; Maurizio Devescovi, General Director of Allianz SpA, underlined the mission, for a large organization like Allianz, of ensuring the future of people, also contributing to the community and local communities with engaging and inclusive projects, as Allianz has always done, also through corporate foundation of the Group, the Allianz Umana Mente Foundation.

We were therefore struck by the important activity that Derthona Basket carries out in the youth field, successfully, and this was our main motivation in establishing the partnership" - has explained Maurizio Devescovi - "Basketball, as a team sport, has the value of rewarding behaviors based on interpersonal trust, determination, solidarity and collaboration. Values in which Allianz recognizes itself and which, also thanks to our new partnership, we hope will contribute to the future successes of the Derthona sports club".
Marco Picchi, President of Derthona Basket, underlined: “In recent years we have been protagonists on increasingly prestigious and important stages. Being here in such a beautiful location, to present a partnership of this importance, is a source of great pride for us. Having a partner like Allianz at our side, with an eye on the youth sector, represents a further step in our growth and makes us look with confidence and ambition to the objectives that await us in the present and in the future".
The CEO of Derthona Basket, Ferencz Bartocci it then introduced social projects that also involve local educational institutions, including the Piantiamo il Futuro initiative to carry out educational and educational initiatives on the themes of the UN 2030 Agenda with particular reference to environmental sustainability and inclusion.
Luca Massaccesi, President of the National Observatory of Bullying and Youth Discomfort which proposes communication and awareness campaigns on these issues, presented a study on the problems that impact the well-being of young people, highlighting how sport can actively combat them also thanks to solidarity, peer help and the promotion of healthy and transparent lifestyles without shortcuts or prevarications.
The Under 16 women's team then took to the stage, with coach Franco Balduzzi, to celebrate the recent victory, at the end of August, of the title of Italian Champion for the Under 16 3x3 basketball Scudetto.
Following, the moment of presentation of the official game shirt of the new 2023/2024 championship, with Allianz top management, the CEO present on stage Giacomo Campora and the General Manager Maurizio Devescovi, together with the management of Derthona – the President Marco Picchi with Maurizio sacchi e Claudio Coffano, respectively from the women's team and the youth team -, the representatives of Errea and the players Tandia foils e Nicolas Errica.
