The years 2015-2016
2015-2016 is the first year of a single A2 league and the division into two groups that divide Italy from WEST to EAST. We try to be ambitious with a veteran under the boards and a youngster at point guard: with Luca Garri and Marco Spissu we build a story that a champion like De'mon Brooks and a talent like Davide Reati help to write in fine print. Third place in the regular season, then a wonderful series and in five games we eliminate Trieste to open the doors to the quarterfinals. Brescia arrives and it should be a no-brainer. 2-0 to them. But in Casale (where we emigrated and where we will be for a year...) there is Camagna's Derthona, the one who ultimately wins with heart. 2-2 and an entire town moves to Cremona where 700 of us celebrate the final act of a memorable season while Brescia respects us, beats us and flies to A1.
The following year was a festival of incognito . Between the Ghisolfi family's withdrawal and the forced exile in Casale, the foundations were all yet to be discovered, and in mid-December, a triple at the buzzer condemned us to a cruel derby and slammed us into the play-off zone. We ended the calendar year taking 30 points in Treviglio and saying goodbye to Reati, who signed in Forlì, but as we entered 2017 , the frog was once again the Prince. The second half of the season was a spectacle with 11 victories, with Glenn Cosey and Phil Greene playing the role of the black and white Dioscuri and a group of Italians who decided to explain to everyone the true meaning of the term GROUP. Ricci, Cucci, Alviti, Sanna, Mascherpa, Garri, Conti… They also defeated Mantua in the first round and treated themselves to the joy of a quarterfinal where Trieste was simply better than us.
