2018, Today
2018. TODAY.
After the golden years of the Derthona-Orsi partnership , a new partner arrives on the jerseys . It's written Bertram Yachts and is a historic name in American sailing... but around here you read Beniamino Gavio who has decided to link his name to that of Derthona Basket.
It's year zero, and on the field, things are going by sight for a couple of months before coach Lorenzo Pansa kicks things into high gear and, with them, five straight victories that take us to the Final Eight of the Italian Cup for the first time . The games are played in March, in Jesi, and Italy is devastated by bad weather: but another cyclone hits the Marche region, and the cyclone comes from Tortona. Garri and his teammates thrash Trieste, crush Biella, and in the final against Ravenna, they play a one-sided symphony. We return to the Palazzetto with the Cup, and even now, as we write, it really doesn't seem real.
But now it's a whole different story, maybe it will take place in Tortona again, maybe in a big, magnificent house, and maybe the future will be even more beautiful... It will certainly always be a LEONI story.
