Allianz Derthona earned its second victory in the first stage of the Next Gen Cup, defeating hosts Pallacanestro Varese 82-66 at the Itelyum Arena.

Great start for Allianz who immediately took control of the game, taking the score to 16-5 thanks to the construction of easy shots forcing Varese to commit fouls, quickly approaching the team bonus. Upon returning from the mandatory time-out, Varese attempted a reaction, but Derthona continued to grind out points, extending to +13 with an almost infallible Farias in shooting (5/6 from the field). At the end of the quarter, a three-point basket by Assui brought Varese back to 23-17.

The second quarter begins with three minutes of errors on both sides, with neither team managing to score. Varese breaks the deadlock with a partial of 9-4, reducing the deficit to just one point. Despite Derthona's new attempt to break away, with Farias as the protagonist, Varese remains close and takes the lead for the first time with two minutes left in the quarter (32-31). The Lions, however, respond promptly with a triple by Josovic, while Varese responds with a basket by Assui. At the final siren, a double play by Cissè, with a basket and a block with 5 seconds left, gives Derthona the lead at halftime at 39-38.

In the third period, Allianz enters the field with great energy, dominating in defense and taking advantage of the transitions to extend, with a partial of 14-4, taking to +11. Despite the 25 points of Assui, Varese still struggles to contain Bruno Farias, who with 22 points and 5 assists, leads his team to +16 at the end of the period.

The last ten minutes start with balance, but Derthona always maintains control. After half of the quarter, a partial of 8 points by Bazan allows the black and white team to further extend, reaching +21. The last minutes sanction the triumph of Allianz, who conquers an important victory by 82-66, scoring the second success in the Next Gen Cup 24/25.
