Allianz Derthona extends its lead in the final quarter and beats Napoli 70-57 in the second match of the inaugural stage of the IBSA Next Gen Cup in Varese, taking home its first points in the standings in its Group A.

At Campus, the start of the game was a tough one between the two teams, with the difference in favor of Napoli at the end of the first quarter being a three-point basket by Esposito just before the buzzer, making it 20-17 for Napoli.

Good start to the second quarter for the Campanians who extend their lead by a few points, but an excellent Derthona recovers the break just suffered and thanks to three consecutive triples takes the lead. The teams arrive at the long break on 36-35 in favor of Tortona, which takes advantage of the good first part of the game by Bazan, their only loan in the competition, author of 12 points and 6 rebounds, and of the playmaker Farias who with his 5 assists gives a big help to the Allianz attack.

The Tortona recovery is characterized by the superiority inside the opponent's area (22 offensive rebounds in total against the 11 of the Neapolitans). The boys coached by Luca Ansaloni with a triple by Josovic extend their advantage to +7, Naples comes out well from the consequent time-out and places a partial of 6-2 then closing the third quarter tied at 48. But the start of the last ten minutes is literally super by the Lions: dragged by the baskets of the MVP Bruno Farias (in the photo) they place a 14-0 partial that helps to get to 66-52 that closes the contest with two minutes to spare on the final siren.

Tomorrow at 18pm at the Itelyum Arena the third and penultimate challenge of the Lombardy stage against the home team Pallacanestro Varese.
