Despite the important absences, Gulliver Supermercati Derthona emerges victorious from the challenge against College Borgomanero on the last day of Division A of the North-West Conference of the Serie B Interregionale championship. The team trained by coach Ansaloni ends the first phase with 20 points (10 wins and 12 losses), waiting for the latest results to know their opponents for the second phase.
The game started off in a very balanced way, in the challenge that took place at the Pala Camagna in Tortona, with both teams determined not to give their opponents any easy shots and to let them take control of the match. College relied on its main scorers, Bazan and Piccirilli, who tried to shake up the team with a mini-partial near the end of the second period. The home team of Gulliver responded with Brizzi, impeccable at shooting, and a basket plus free throw made by Albertinazzi near the buzzer, allowed the Lions to recover the gap and go to the locker rooms at 47 all. Upon returning to the court, Gulliver increased the pace and, thanks to a partial of 15-4, took a first-time lead of +11, forcing College to chase for the entire quarter (67-60 at the 30th). After a start to the last quarter, characterized by several shooting errors on both sides, Derthona maintains the lead of the game, consolidating the advantage in double figures, and limiting the opponents to only 8 points. Gulliver thus closes the first phase with a 79-68 victory against College, waiting for the final results to define their position in the standings.
Excellent performance by Andrija Josovic, author of a double double with 17 points and 17 rebounds, and by Giacomo Brizzi, perfect in shooting (14 points with 4/4 from the field and 4/4 from the free throw line), both fundamental for the team's final success.
