TOURNAMENT IN IMOLA: GOOD FIRST ONE!

Today the Imola Tournament began and in the second semi-final the Derthona Lions faced the newly promoted, but still historic club, Fortitudo Bologna.

The match was immediately exciting with the two coaches lining up on the parquet: Simoncelli, Spissu, Reati, Brooks and Garri on the Derthona front; While on the Fortitudo side the following depart: Sorrentino, Flowers, Carraretto, Italiano and Daniel.

In the first few minutes a great balance reigns on the pitch, until Tortona tightens the defense and with great intensity manages to take advantage of the formidable slip. In the first quarter the scoreboard shows the Lions leading 30 to 17. In the second quarter the score always maintains the same advantage except for the last 3 minutes when Boniccioli's team with great defensive intensity, perhaps even beyond what is legitimate, manages to recover the gap of the first fraction bringing the race almost back to parity. At half-way through the match Cavina's team was ahead by 3 points: 47 to 44.

In the third half of the game, Bologna seems to have the intention of continuing what they had recovered before the break and thus grinds out more points, especially those born from a series of steals thanks to an almost suffocating defense. The partial of the third quarter sees the F replicate the same advantage the Lions gained in the first 10 minutes: 30 to 16.

74 to 63 is the starting score in the final half of regulation and here we begin to see how Cavina is doing a great job to build the team. Everyone gets involved, the group takes the stage and the baskets begin to arise from a concerted game finding potential killers in everyone.

Tortona wins the final, which will be played on Sunday 6 September against Imola, who got the better of a Mantova team still in the running-in phase, at 21pm at the PalaRuggi in Imola.

Partials: Tortona – Bologna 90-85 (30-17; 47-44; 63-74;)
