Autosped BCC Derthona suffered a home defeat against Umana Reyer Venezia. Cutugno's team, which in addition to Arado also had to do without Fontaine and Toffolo, held out for a half against the Venetians, battling back several times and managing to maintain a double-digit lead until midway through the third quarter, before the visitors' surged to secure the game. Despite the red and whites' efforts until the end, the visiting team took the two points. BCC's next league match will be at the PalaZauli in Battipaglia on Sunday, November 2nd, at 4:00 PM.
The first period was marked by intense physicality at the Cittadella dello Sport: Autosped resisted Reyer's initial run, fought back, and trailed 14-16 at the 10th minute. In the second period, Autosped found less consistent scoring opportunities, and the Venetians, capitalizing on extra possessions, extended their lead to 24-39 at halftime.
After returning from the locker rooms, the red and whites closed the gap again, before suffering a 0-13 run that allowed Reyer to extend their lead to 36-62 by the 30th minute. In the final quarter, Autosped stepped up their game again, finding a few three-pointers and layups, closing the gap to a final 57-72.
The words of Caterina Dotto: "The match was difficult. It's a challenging period, not only because of the defeats but also because of the injuries, which shouldn't be an excuse, but certainly make our job more difficult. We need to have confidence in ourselves; we have the energy to play at this level. We need to extend our reaction times throughout the match, but I'm confident this can happen in the short term."
Coach's comment Horace Cutugno: Despite so many numerical and technical difficulties, we managed to put in a dignified and courageous performance until the final moments of the match. Despite the ups and downs, and against a top European team. We must continue to work as we're doing; the performances will come. Against teams like Venice, you can't make mistakes, because they're unforgiving..
