Orsi Derthona snatches the success against Benacquista Latina with tooth and nail (86-79 final), distances them in the standings and takes a 2-0 lead in head-to-head matches. It wasn't an easy match for the Lions, initially in control during the first half (37-32 Orsi), and then in difficulty at the start of the second half, when Benacquista showed all her value. The 0-10 run for Latina that opened the third quarter put Derthona on the ropes, also trailing by 7 points in the 25th minute (42-49). Precisely in the hardest moment, however, the Lions brought out all their pride and the competitive malice of their best days. A triple from Sanna restored the Lions' inertia, who were then able to get even closer to 54-55 in the 30th minute with Cosey's triple.
The Derthona that approaches the fourth period is the one of the best days. The Lions equalize the score on the rebound, the defense picks up the tone and, on the heavy baskets of Garri (59-56 at 32') and Ricci (66-58 at 34'), comes the first Juventus escape attempt, which materializes in the 35' from Conti's “bomb” which makes it 72-61. Pastore and Deshields' baskets keep Latina in their wake, but Derthona is able to maintain the inertia and control of a match with a specific weight that is anything but light.
