12th Armana 3×3 streetbasket tournament – Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June
The basketball season in the gym is over, but for all fans it's time to play outdoors and in Tortona basketball on the pitch is synonymous with the "Armana Tournament", 3-on-3 street basketball, scheduled for 18-19 next month.
Now in its twelfth edition, the Tournament wants to confirm the highlight for the Tortona basketball movement, thanks to the memorable season of Derthona Basket of Serie A 2 and the very recent bronze medal won by the local talent Flavio Gay with the Italian national team at the Under 18 World Championships of 3x3 in Kazakhstan.
This year too the event is scheduled for two days: Saturday 18 June, afternoon of competitions starting from 14.00 pm reserved for youth teams and in particular for: mini-basketball, under 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s. Sunday 19th June starting at at 11.00 there will be competitions reserved for seniors and in particular for: women's, men's, special Olympics, amateurs and over 40s.
The men's and women's teams that win the 2016 Armana Tournament will have access to the National Finals in Riccione at the end of July, receiving as a prize both registration for the finals and an overnight stay in the hotel.
But there is more: following the ranking drawn up by FIP and FISB according to which in 2015, the Armana Tournament was the 1st Italian tournament in terms of number of participants, this will allow a delegation from the Tortona Tournament to represent the Italy in the stage of the FIBA International StreetBall Tour 2016 which will be held on 9-10 July in Lipik, Croatia.
The Tournament is organized, as always, in memory of the figure of Professor Mario Armana and has as its main purpose the collection of funds to be donated to charity in favor of the “Enrico Cucchi” Palliative Care Volunteers Association.
Furthermore, the event will represent the discipline of basketball in the "Sports Festival" event, organized by the Municipality of Tortona, which on those days wants to promote the practice of many activities and games in numerous places and city streets.
The meeting is therefore at the usual address: Corso Garibaldi in the historic court of the Scholastic courtyard which will be framed by the mini-basketball courts set up on the stretch of road closed to traffic, others set up in the area of the Fassini gardens and as a logistical base the legendary Palestra of Corso Cavour.
