Derthona Basket School Cup: "A great opportunity to strengthen ties with schools and the local community."

Derthona Basket School Cup: "A great opportunity to strengthen ties with schools and the local community."

Schools are increasingly at the center of the Derthona world. The first edition of the Derthona Basket School Cup will begin on February 24th, featuring several local high schools in the basketball competition strongly supported by the Club.

The School Cup's mission is to bring together and engage young students by promoting values such as friendship, loyalty, fairness, respect for the rules, and team spirit. To participate, each school had to replicate the organization of a basketball club. Therefore, in addition to the 12-player roster, students are involved in other areas, such as press office, digital communications, organization of cheering, entertainment, and choreography to support their school during the games.

PARTICIPANTS AND STAGES Nine schools will participate in the three stages of the first phase of the DB School Cup, sponsored by Cester & Co. and Banca d'Asti, for a total of over 7 students reached through the project. The first stage, scheduled for February 24th at the PalaCamagna in Tortona, will involve the G. Peano High School of Tortona, the IISG Marconi High School of Tortona, and the F. Vercelli High School of Asti. The second stage, scheduled for March 10th, will involve three schools from Voghera: ITAC Gallini, IISG Galilei, and ODPF Santachiara. It will take place at the PalaOltrepò in Voghera, thanks to the collaboration of Olympia Voghera President Stefano Barbieri. The third and final match will be held on March 16th and will involve IIS Vinci Fermi Nervi of Alessandria, ITIS A. Volta of Alessandria, and IISC Barletti of Ovada. The venue will be PalaCima in Alessandria, for which we thank AD Alessandria Volley and the Municipality of Alessandria for their support. The three winning teams from each stage will gain direct access to the Final Four.

The second phase (advancing to the second-place teams from each of the three stages) to determine the qualification of the fourth finalist and the semifinals of the Final Four will be held at the Cittadella dello Sport "Marcellino e Pietro Gavio" facility in Tortona, with the Cittadella's Nova Arena opening its doors for the final. This second phase of the tournament will take place on April 12th (or April 11th if it coincides with Bertram Derthona's Serie A match against Trento).

TECHNICAL REGULATIONS: The 5-on-5 tournament is open to members of any sports federation, as well as non-members. No more than three members of the Eccellenza category may be on the court at any one time, and at least one female player is required in the starting five.

PRESENTATION DURING DERTHONA-TRIESTE The School Cup will have a prestigious inauguration. The team presentations will take place on Sunday, February 8th at the Nova Arena during the Bertram-Trieste match. At halftime of the match, which is the 19th matchday of the Italian top-flight championship, all teams will take to the court to receive their official game jerseys from Leo, the official mascot of Derthona Basket.

SOCIAL ACCOUNT To follow the tournament closely, the Derthona School Cup account has been opened on Instagram.

STATEMENTS: "Derthona Basket's participation in the School Cup project conceived by Reyer represents another step in our regional development journey. The Club's growth cannot be separated from the growth of the entire region in which it operates, which currently extends along four main lines, and which must be continually nurtured and encouraged," says Gianmaria Vacirca , general manager of Derthona Basket.

“For us, the world of education represents a strategic partner and a key target, and through our presence we aim to share the values of belonging, participation, and social responsibility.

"This is an initiative we participate in with the humility of those who want to learn, and from which we want to create opportunities for meeting and sharing. It's a great opportunity to strengthen the bond between the Club, schools, and the local community. It's a project that fully embodies our vision of development, in which sporting success and local growth go hand in hand, without being separated, in a strong, inclusive, and participatory system."

“The School Cup is a major achievement for Derthona Basket because, in addition to being an exciting sporting competition, it is a project with significant educational and community value,” say promoters Monica Prati and Deborah Repetti , heads of the Club's Projects area. “We would like to thank Reyer Venezia for having conceived, years ago, the tournament that inspired us. In particular, we want to thank the Venetian club's press office manager, Francesco Rigo, for guiding us in launching this fantastic experience.”
