Hello Luigi,
I keep thinking about all the things you told me to do "...when I'm no longer here...."
and how we talked about it with great irony, as if that day would never really come.
With your Renata we had fun imagining what you would have left us, we always joked about this famous LEGACY of yours
I had never thought about it as seriously as I have these days.
Because only today I understood that you really thought of a great legacy for all of us.
I tried to describe it.
I called it LOVE. Love for your Derthona, what you have transmitted to each of us in an indissoluble way.
I called it RECOGNITION, the one that hundreds and hundreds of people who have entered through the door of that building over the years are paying you.
I called it FRIENDSHIP, the real one, which you were able to make blossom between your boys and which still makes us so united today.
I called it PASSION, for the true sense of sport. Because a basket is always a basket and it doesn't matter if the great champion actually has the appearance of a plump child and, as you said, never tall enough.
Last night I sat at your desk, the building was full. And I'm sure I heard you say:
"You saw, I brought more people to the stadium when I was dead than many players when they were alive"
We had a great laugh and you walked away, for the last time, leaving us this wonderful legacy.
It is the legacies made up of values, feelings and generous gestures that remain forever.
You will forever remain in our hearts.
