Fioretti: "We paid dearly for those eight minutes in the third quarter. Now we're back at home playing more consistent basketball."
In the press room at the PalaTaliercio, Mario Fioretti analyzes Umana Reyer Venezia's latest victory over his Bertram Derthona Tortona, forced to surrender 87-75 just 48 hours after the victory that launched the Venetian hosts to a 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series of the LBA Playoff Unipol 2026.
"It was a solid first half from us, controlling the rebounds and doing what we had to do," says the Tortona coach. "Then, two minutes into the third quarter, we suffered that negative run. We tried to stop it, but at that point, we suffered again, like in Game 1, from their physicality, on the rebounds, and we were no longer able to find second shots after misses."
"It was truly eight minutes in which they dominated the game, once again. We tried because we never gave up, even in the final stretch of the match, but we paid dearly for those eight minutes," Fioretti bitterly observed.
Down 0-2, it's now time to reset and show a different side in Game 3 on Friday at 20:45 p.m. on home soil at the Nova Arena: "We're going home with the idea of doing everything we can to try to play our game on Friday and play 40 minutes of consistency, unlike what we've done here in two games."
