BCC imposes its pace on Sassari and scores a poker of victories

Autosped BCC Derthona secured their fourth consecutive win and seven of their last eight. They led the game in Sassari for long stretches, imposing their defensive signature in the second half and leveraging their accurate three-point shooting. Another impressive team performance was noteworthy in the final game of 2025, with five players scoring in double figures (Fontaine 16, Fondren 12 and 12 rebounds, Melchiori 12, and Dotto and Conte 11) on a day when Kunaiyi surpassed 2000 rebounds in all LBF competitions. The Giraffes now prepare for the Coppa Italia quarterfinals against La Molisana Campobasso, scheduled for Sunday, January 4th at 6:30 PM at the Cittadella dello Sport.
The first quarter was a fast-paced, high-scoring affair at PalaSerradimigni: the game unfolded in set and break situations, and with one of these—three-pointers from Leonardi and Melchiori—BCC finished ahead 22-24. In the second quarter, Cutugno's team attempted to make its mark, widening the gap to three full possessions (33-42), before Sassari responded, closing the gap in the closing stages: at halftime, the score was 43-45.
After returning from the locker rooms, Autosped made another run with long-distance baskets from Fontaine and Melchiori, but Dinamo—with Poindexter's play—stayed in their wake: at the 30th minute, the score was 53-62. In the final quarter, the Giraffes sealed the victory, putting in a solid defense and finding crucial baskets at key moments: the final score was 65-86.
Coach's words Horace Cutugno: It was an important victory with a great team performance, capping off an excellent week. We managed to take the lead where we wanted and play the game we wanted. We built a good lead in the third quarter, with some key defensive possessions that gave us confidence on offense. Now we're preparing as best we can for the Coppa Italia, trying to honor the club's efforts to host it on our home turf.
