Heavy success for Derthona, who conquered the PalaCalafiore of Reggio Calabria at a distance (68-78) at the end of a real battle, which the Lions conquered minute after minute thanks to a careful and continuous defense, which took away the air from the maneuver of the hosts.
After a balanced first quarter, in which Garri's initiatives were echoed by a particularly inspired Voskuil (10 points in the first 10'), for the 14-15 Derthona of the first siren, it is the Bianconeri who put the arrow in the second ten minutes, taking advantage of the good defense on the dangerous transition of the hosts and despite the not excellent long range aim (2/14 in 26-32 at 20').
The long break allows the Bianconeri to adjust their three-point aim (5/7 between 20' and 30'): Derthona thus reaches the double-digit lead with Greene's heavy basket (32-42 at 24') , and extends on Luca Garri's two almost consecutive triples, for 44-57 in the 30th minute. Viola remain in their wake, dragged by a possessed Voskuil (four triples in the third quarter, as many in the fourth quarter), but are unable to close the gap. In the final quarter the intensity of the contest rises: it also plays on nerves, but Derthona does not lose its composure and, possession after possession, has the great merit of maintaining control of the match and of leading the match to goal without ever conceding return of the hosts.
