Derthona-Agrigento 64-74
VOGHERA. Tortona loses to Agrigento 74-64 at the PalaOltrepo in Voghera. The percentages from long range (18%) and the few free throws shot (three in total scored by Reati) are the keys to the defeat of the Lions who for the occasion wore the vest specially designed by Italy Independent.
Coach Cavina chooses Spissu, Reati, Brooks and Bianchi. Moncada starts with Piazza, Martin, Eatherton, Evangelisti and Chiarastella. The Lions scored immediately with a post move by Garri and two placed shots by Reati and Brooks.
Moncada loses two balls in the first two minutes and doesn't get on the scoresheet. Piazza is released as he penetrates and is fouled. 6' from the end of the first quarter the game is tied (8-8).
Moncada goes up by 4 points, but is immediately caught up with two penetrations from Brooks.
The first quarter is well played by both teams and ends 19-17 for Derthona.
The second period starts and Spissu enters the game with five consecutive points (a bomb and a penetration). The match continues to remain in the balance: Chiarastella and Evangelisti score from long range. La Moncada at 7''40'' is three points above.
Garri scores a mid-range shot, then Brooks takes care of making it 32-31 with 3' left in the second half. Vai also enters the three-point game, Saccaggi scores with a tap and Agrigento is up by 4 points (36-32).
In the last minutes little is scored, it ends 38-32 for Moncada.
The difference at half-time is made by the three-point percentages: the guests shoot 67%, while the Lions shoot 13%. The third quarter begins and the attack lights go out for Tortona.
Agrigento makes the first real partial of the match taking the lead 41-32. Eatherton scores a few consecutive baskets and Moncada maintains the double-digit lead.
The Lions continue to argue from long range, but Agrigento does not close the match.

The fourth quarter begins and Tortona starts strong (8-2), but Piazza from three brings Moncada back to +16. Three free throws from Reati and Derthona are back down by 11 points. Simoncelli hits the bomb from long range for -8 with PalaOltrepo charging the team and Ciani calls time out (partial score of 21-12). Simoncelli again from three gives the score -5 with 2'08'' left.
Tortona produces the maximum effort, but Agrigento manages to keep control.
It ends 74-64 despite the last quarter being in favor of the Lions (24-17).
