Demis Cavina towards race 2: “There's a great desire to do it again as soon as possible”

Demis Cavina is calm and concentrated. After Alma Trieste's break in game 1, the Juventus coach offers a precise and direct analysis of what happened in the opening match of the quarter-final series: “I think no one expected such a result. I must say that, watching the match again without audio, the post-match impressions were confirmed. Our quality in the first 12-13' was good and the difference was generated in attack; on our part we missed several easy shots, which could have given us that home energy that we have always needed, while Trieste was good at putting them in and immediately creating a groove. In terms of execution and gameplay, at least in the first phase, there were no particular differences. There is a great desire to do it again as soon as possible."

Alma, on the other hand, has been traveling at a high pace since the start of the championship. Yesterday's performance is not a surprise: “Trieste played an excellent championship. We knew all their characteristics: compared to the past, the additions of quality players like Da Ros and Cavaliero within a very deep and athletic group made the difference.”

The opportunity for redemption is represented by Wednesday evening's match which will be played at PalaOltrePo' at 21.00 pm: “Winning is fundamental, we need to play and think about what we did in game 1, trying to be more cool. Also given our athletic conditions - Alviti will be missing, while Ricci's wrist problem is known - we will have to be ready to deploy the same defensive intensity as in game 1, in which we conceded 75 points. However, we have big margins for improvement in attack: the focal points of game 2 will be the transformation of executions into baskets, and the number of balls lost, while continuing to push the counterattack."

What can be changed emotionally? “I don't want to think that there is a motivational problem, especially in light of what our path has been up to now. We are not a team that is easily discouraged when faced with difficulties: compared to us, Trieste can count on infinite rotation, but on the pitch we play five against five and this is what makes the difference. We have characteristics that we must follow without distorting ourselves, continuing to play our basketball even if we fail to make a basket."

The closure is due to the physical situation: "Davide Alviti will certainly be absent, while Giampaolo Ricci's situation is known."
