Orsi Derthona announces that, starting from Monday 30 January, Massimo Taverna will become part of the Juventus roster. Born in Tortona and raised in basketball, after completing the youth sector he moved to Basket Serravalle, where he comes from and where he played five seasons between the C Gold and C Silver series.
A 1991cm guard born in 192, Massimo will wear the number 8 shirt.

This is the welcome from the Juventus general manager Marco Picchi: “Taverna's arrival touches the heartstrings before the head: Massimo was my teammate when I was the captain of Derthona and he was taking his first steps in the first team and is a boy with double ties to this team. In a year in which, for various reasons, our roster does not field players born and trained in Tortona, we have chosen to include a player who was ready and was able to give us a big hand in a moment in which the team he needed it due to injuries and Reati's departure. Massimo was appreciated by the whole group, he impressed coach Cavina, and proved that he deserved this opportunity. For us it is a beautiful story and I think it is such for him too. I would like to thank the Serravalle club, where Massimo was playing and which agreed to the transfer, confirming the excellent relationship that exists between the clubs both on the part of the managers and on the part of the coach, Edoardo Gatti, who is He was a pillar of this company for many years. For Derthona it is essential to allow children who start playing basketball to be able to dream of one day wearing the first team shirt. In recent years the category has changed and the goal has become more difficult to achieve, but this dream must continue and I am happy that Massimo can be an example for all our kids."

Massimo Taverna: “I would like to thank Derthona Basket and in particular coach Cavina for giving me this opportunity. I'm really over the moon and can't wait to fully enjoy this new adventure. From the first training sessions, my teammates and staff made me feel part of the group, proving to be truly splendid people. I grew up in Derthona, I went through the entire youth system and I had the opportunity to play in the first team when they played in C2 and the captain was Marco Picchi, who today is the general manager; like many boys from Tortona, the first team has always been the dream that seemed destined to remain in the drawer: for this reason the satisfaction is double. Returning to wearing black and white in A2 is a further incentive to do well and give my all, with the hope of being ready when the coach needs me. I would like to close by thanking Basket Serravalle, and in particular coach Edo Gatti, for allowing me to experience this extraordinary opportunity and for the affection they have shown me in this transition."
