Victories, unforgettable moments and records: Derthona says goodbye to Mike Daum
A great personal opportunity for Mike Daum behind Bertram Derthona's choice to grant the player born in '95, with contractual termination upon payment of a buyout, the opportunity to start a new path with a high-level European team. Mike was a great Leo, protagonist of over two seasons at the highest level, of numerous exciting matches and unforgettable moments that will remain in the hearts of the fans forever.
Arriving in Tortona in the summer of 2021, among the first Americans to embrace the Juventus project in his debut in Serie A, Mike immediately entered the hearts of the fans for his charisma and his ability to involve the public, inside and out from the field. Daum was an essential element in coach Ramondino's board right from the first matches in the top championship, contributing with his talent and his plays to the achievement of great goals.
The Italian Cup final and the Scudetto semi-final won by Daum and Derthona in the first year were unforgettable, as was the new Scudetto semi-final in 2022/23. 'The Dauminator' has embodied, from its arrival to today, the spirit that distinguishes Bertram Derthona on every occasion.
But Mike was also the record holder among all Bertram Derthona's Serie A competitions: record holder, together with Severini, for games played (89), first for points scored ever (1089) and in a single match (33 ), second for total rebounds captured (511) and first for rebounds captured in a game (17), first for rating in a single game (46). And even in the first three matches played by Bertram Derthona in its history in the BCL, Mike was the best in terms of points scored (36, like Radošević), rebounds (20) and rating (58). Excellent numbers that tell a lot, but not everything, about the contribution that Mike Daum brought to the team on all the occasions in which he took to the field wearing the black and white jersey number 24.
