One of Bertram Derthona's great Serie A classics is approaching, eagerly awaited by the match Virtus Segafredo Bologna scheduled for Sunday 3 December at 20pm at the Virtus Segafredo Arena in Bologna.

Sunday's match will be the fourteenth match between the two teams in all Serie A competitions: the result is a happy one for the team now coached by Luca Banchi, capable of winning ten of the thirteen matches played so far.

The first meeting between the teams was the quarter-final of the 2021 Super Cup, when Virtus won a tight match 74-66, only in the final stages. The next two matches saw the success of Derthona, capable of winning 93-76 at PalaEnergica and 94-82 in the semi-final of the Italian Cup played in Pesaro in February 2022. After that match, the following four matches saw Virtus and Bertram as protagonists – three of which were valid for the Scudetto semi-final – ended with the victory of the team coached by Scariolo (101-83, 77-73, 91-70 and 69-77).

In 2022/23 the two teams faced each other six times: in the first match, played in Casale in January 2023, Derthona made the fans who flocked to PalaEnergica experience one of the most beautiful evenings in their history. The victory, 89-81, came at the end of a match conducted right from the tap-off. In the next five matches, Bologna prevailed: 90-65 in the semi-final of the Italian Cup, 91-90 - at the end of a tight match - in the second leg of the championship, and 84-61, 108-78 and 82-89 in the Scudetto semi-final.

There are two, both loved, former players of the challenge: among the black and white ranks of Derthona since this summer he has been playing Kyle Weems, in the last four years among the leaders of Virtus, while in black and white Bologna will be in the race Bruno Mascolo, who in three years in Tortona won the Super Cup and the A2 championship.

There are many interesting ingredients in a challenge that has always provided great emotions and which will once again be experienced.
