Further good indications for the Lions in 'Roberto Ferrari Trophy'. At the PalaLeonessa a2a against Germani Brescia both teams present themselves with reduced ranks due to injuries and ailments: despite the absences, the bianconeri showed good fluidity and collaboration in both halves of the pitch. Today's friendly match was also the debut opportunity for the U19 Lamine Tandia, a new addition to the team. The Lions win the Trophy e Luke Severini wins the best player award.
Bertram Derthona thanks Germani Brescia for their hospitality and for having chosen the Lions as opponents for this important preseason match.
Starting five composed of Christon, Harper, Filloy, Daum and Cain. In the first minutes of the game the Bianconeri struggled to find the way to the basket before being unblocked by Daum's dunk at 7'51”. Derthona, then, thanks to the good defense and the recovered balls (5 total in the first half), found fluidity in attack and began to rack up points, closing the quarter ahead 27-19.
In the second period, Brescia's attempts to reduce the gap were promptly pushed back, again thanks to an attentive defense that allowed Bertram to find easy solutions on the counterattack. Christon's triple in the last minute of the quarter gives the teams a +16 (31-47) lead into halftime.
Upon returning from the changing rooms, the match continues with the same leitmotif as the previous minutes, with Derthona responding to all the good attacking initiatives of their opponents and maintaining the lead. Della Valle and Akele scored the mini-break for Germani, who returned to -11 in the middle of the quarter, before the prompt reaction of the Lions who, thanks to the contribution of all the players, further widened the gap (56-75).
In the final quarter, where the young Errica once again finds space, Bertram keeps the intensity high despite the drop in shooting percentages and finishes 88-70 to win the trophy.
Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: “Excellent attitude from the team along the lines of the friendly match against Urania. A very important aspect was that all the players entered with the right attitude, proactive and with a desire to apply themselves. It is clear that at this moment of the season with almost all the teams at reduced ranks and with players forced to cover other roles on the pitch, certain solutions are more complex to implement. Beyond the individual technical aspects, which we will try to take care of next week before the Lucca tournament, it is very important for us to see this type of attitude".
