A comeback from Leoni: Derthona wins in Trento

Of character, energy and talent. As a high-level team, Bertram Derthona conquers the BLM Group Arena in Trento, after a difficult first half and at the end of a run that lasted over thirty minutes. In the last quarter, with some offensive plays and a level defense, the team coached by coach Ramondino gets two very important points.

Bertram's next match will be Sunday 26 March at 19.30 pm at the PalaSerradimigni in Sassari against Dinamo Banco di Sardegna.
First period of great balance at the BLM Group Arena: after an initial partial in favor of the Lions, the hosts first come back into contact and then overtake (22-18).
Bertram, at the start of the second half, suffered a sprint start from Trento (12-0 partial), which exceeded the double-digit margin. In the following moments, the Lions found offensive fluidity and defensive balance and closed the gap to 42-34.
Upon returning from the long break, Bertram, led by Macura and Harper, made an important effort on both halves of the pitch which led to the comeback and the counter-overtaking (55-56 with 4'20'' left). Trento, in the last minutes of the quarter, produced a counter break of 10-5 which brought them back ahead 65-61 in the 30th minute. The team coached by coach Ramondino regains command of the score (65-69) at the start of the last partial thanks to a burning 0-8 scored by Candi-Radosevic. After several tense minutes in which the score did not move, Spagnolo scored the new Trentino -1 from the line. Baskets by Radosevic, Christon and Harper bring Derthona back to two full possessions of the lead (69-75 with 1'50'' left). Lockett shortens again with 17'' left in the match but in the final sprint it is Derthona who prevails, winning 73-75.
Coach Marco Ramondino had this to say after the game: "We should be thrilled with this victory because it was a game with many aspects reminiscent of a playoff game. We played away against a team that is enjoying excellent form both in the Cup and the League, a tough, physical team where we "give away weight" in almost every position (beyond centimeters). It's not just a question of physicality: it's Trento's style of play and decisions that allow them to impose this characteristic. We played a very good game for more than 30 minutes; we struggled in the first half to find space and even a minimum of ball movement when we played with the two pivots together (Cain and Radosevic). At that point, we also made several defensive errors, mismatching in transition, and Trento did a great job punishing all those mistakes. The very positive thing was that already in the first half, one possession at a time, we started to get back into the game, without looking for too hasty solutions. In the second half, I think we played a really, really good game. Personally, I'm really satisfied with the team's performance: beyond the content, the work of coach Molin and what Trento does, which we have great respect for, has ensured that this was playoff basketball and winning here on the road is truly an important result."
