Forty minutes ahead, four players in double figures and cynicism at the moment of Fortitudo's attempted return: Bertram Derthona inaugurates their return round with a convincing victory at the PalaDozza in Bologna. To underline the choral performance of the Bianconeri, capable of finding many protagonists in different moments of the match.
The first quarter was dominated entirely by Bertram at PalaDozza: Coach Ramondino's team created excellent three-point shots and converted them consistently ( 7 of 10 in the period ), quickly reaching double-digits and extending the lead to 15-32 at the first buzzer. In the second quarter, Fortitudo attempted to increase the intensity of their play, but Derthona—led by Mascolo ( 16 points in the first half) and the great flow of their play—maintained their lead, closing the first twenty minutes up 34-51.
Upon returning from the locker rooms, Bertram still leads the match in terms of pace and score, further expanding the gap beyond 20 points: in the final stages of the half, Bologna narrows the score to 54-73 in the 30th minute. At the start of the last quarter, Fortitudo produced its maximum effort, on both sides of the pitch, to get back into the match, reaching -10 (65-75), before Derthona found the decisive baskets with Macura and Sanders. Coach Marco Ramondino said at the end of the game: "It's a game we should be very satisfied with, because we controlled the match from start to finish, being clear about Bologna's strengths and many options. We moved the ball well, creating good shots, we survived very low free throw percentages, and we resisted Fortitudo's attempt to come back, finishing the game on a high ."
