The week of the youth teams: the C Gold finishes 7th and awaits the derby-playoff with Serravalle, the U15 Eccellenza bids farewell to the championship and prepares for the "Papini", joy-overtime for the U13 Gold
It wasn't the happiest of weeks for the Derthona Basket youth teams , but there was a cheering signal from the U13 Gold team. The double-header in Turin over the weekend, concluding the regular season of the Piedmontese Serie C Gold and the second regional phase of the U15 Eccellenza , didn't go particularly well. In the senior championship, Gulliver Supermercati Derthona lost the actual play-off for sixth place at home to Don Bosco Crocetta, thus "reserving" themselves a difficult first-round playoff against the second-seeded Tre Colli Serravalle. A 23-4 second-quarter run secured the victory and overtaking the Turin team in the standings, with the Bianconeri finishing in seventh place with 15 wins and 11 losses. A best-of-five quarterfinal against the second-placed team will begin at the end of the month, with the first two matches on the Serravalle hardwood, the third and possible fourth at the PalaCamagna, and the even more likely "deal" at Serravalle's home. The winner of the series will immediately advance to the new Serie B Interregionale, while the loser will still have the chance to secure the fifth and final promotion up for grabs in Piedmont through two additional rounds, the first against the loser of the quarterfinal between Next Step Rapallo and Don Bosco Crocetta.
The 2022/23 U15 Excellence championship has concluded on the CUS pitch . Forced to win the final round of the Title Round to advance to the Playoffs for the interregional tournaments, the Bianconeri weren't enough to build a consistent first-half lead to edge out the CUS team, who managed to secure the fourth and final spot in the Title Round, which will send them to the Playoff against the fifth-placed team from Lombardy. For the boys coached by Federico Tosarelli, however, there's no time for regrets: the team will now be playing in Rimini from April 22nd to 25th at the prestigious "Claudio Papini Memorial."
He still can't move the rankingsU17 Excellence, the fourth defeat in as many matches in Interregional Group H of the second phase. An encouraging start, then the third period and the break at the beginning of the fourth condemned Pallacanestro Vado to pass to PalaCamagna, asserting their rights as the new regional champion of Piedmont and Liguria despite the great offensive performance of Armin Korlatovic. Third place, the last to qualify for the continuation of the year, is 6 points away with 6 rounds to go.
Before traveling with the Debutant heading to Alba for a tournament on the long weekend of April 25th, theU13 Gold (in the photo) took the first away victory of the second phase. After the defeat at home to the league leaders Gators Savigliano, Andrea Fanaletti's boys returned to moving their ranking in the Top 1 Group by beating ABA Saluzzo in extra time. In the overtime, the triple by MVP Leonardo Quaini, a basket by Marco Amos Gabbetta and a free throw by Marcello Toso were decisive.
