“The Dauminator” is black and white: welcome Mike Daum

A record-breaking four-year collegiate season, two solid seasons in Spain at Obradoiro and now the choice to play in Italy: Mike Daum is a new player for Bertram Derthona.

CAREER – Born in Kimball (Nebraska, USA) on 30 October 1995, the new black and white power forward completed his university career at South Dakota State. In 2015/16, Daum was named Sixth Man of the Year of the Summit League - which includes the NCAA teams from the American Midwest - for the 15.2 points and 6.2 rebounds produced in the season coming off the bench. He was nicknamed for his ability to consistently score from both two and three points “The Dauminator”.

The following year Mike became a starter for the Jackrabbits and increased his turnover, scoring a high of 51 points in the victory against Fort Wayne. At the end of the year he was named MVP of the Summit League, a recognition that he would also obtain in the following two seasons spent at South Dakota State.

Years in which he achieved great personal satisfaction: in February 2018 he surpassed the milestone of 2000 points scored at the College, in December of the same year he became the best scorer ever in the history of the Summit League, surpassing Caleb Green, seen in Italy with the Sassari shirts and Avellino.

After surpassing 1000 rebounds in college, on February 23, 2019, Daum became the tenth NCAA Division I player to reach 3000 points. At the end of the season he was signed by the Portland Trail Blazers for the Summer League.

In 2019 he then signed a contract with Obradoiro, a team playing in the Liga ACB, where he remained for the last two years in which he showed off as a solid player, capable of scoring over 9 points on average. His double size and ability to shoot three-pointers with precision have made him an important player on the Spanish team's board.

After the two-year period in Spain, Mike has now chosen Italy and Bertram Derthona as the new stage of his career.
