“Teddy Bear Toss”: also on Sunday at Palaoltrepo for Derthona – Piacenza
The Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro announces that it has received authorization from the Italian Basketball Federation to begin organizing " Teddy Bear Toss " days on Serie A2 courts. In recent days, the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP) had joined the initiative promoted by "La Giornata Tipo," taking action on the more institutional side of the organization, representing and protecting the Serie A2 Gold and A2 Silver clubs that wish to participate.
The " Teddy Bear Toss " has American roots, primarily promoted in the ice hockey league. "La Giornata Tipo" has decided to replicate it in Italy for worthy purposes, targeting children hospitalized in pediatric wards in cities that are also home to teams participating in the Serie A2 Gold and Silver championships. On December 14th and 21st, spectators will be invited to bring teddy bears to the game, to be thrown onto the court after the first basket is scored.
The FIP, by joining the initiative, has shown itself willing to cancel the disciplinary measures that could be imposed, by regulation, for the obvious suspension of the race in the time necessary to collect the stuffed animals donated by the fans.
In the following days the players of the various teams will be involved in the delivery of the stuffed animals collected to the pediatric departments of the city hospitals.
The “Teddy Bear Toss” has also received the support of the PETER PAN ONLUS association which offers free hospitality to children victims of cancer and their families.
