Born in Varese on 26 August 1960, Galli began his career in the youth sector of Pallacanestro Varese, of which he was responsible and with which he won four Scudetti. At senior level, he coached Pallacanestro Varese, winning the Italian Super Cup, Campus Varese and Busto Arsizio, in B2, Bisceglie (A Dilettanti), Rimini (Legadue), Forlì (DNA Gold) and Chieti (LNP Silver and A2). He began the 2018/19 season as head coach of VL Pesaro, an experience that ended in January 2019.
As an assistant he was part of the staff of Varese Basketball, with which he won the star Scudetto in 1999, Rimini in Legadue before becoming head coach of the team, Biella in Serie A, Sant'Antimo and Forlì in Legadue.
In the last two seasons he joined the staff of Umana Reyer Venezia, with the role of assistant coach to Walter De Raffaele.
Massimo also boasts important experiences with Italbasket: he was assistant coach of the Under 19 men's national team capable of winning world silver in 2017 in Egypt, and was part of the Under 18 men's and senior women's national team.
In his first season with Bertram, coach Galli contributed to the achievement of highly prestigious results including: the Super Cup semi-final, the Italian Cup final and the playoff semi-final against Virtus Bologna.
