Solidity and high-level experience: Amanda Zahui is a new player at BCC

Autosped BCC Derthona announces that it has reached an agreement with Amanda Zahui, center born in 93 who played with KGHM BC Polkowice this season. She played in the EuroLeague Women with the Polish team.

CAREER – Born in Stockholm on September 8, 1993, Zahui began playing basketball at the age of ten, after playing soccer and tennis. From the age of 13, she was included in the rosters of the Swedish youth national teams. After attending high school in Sodertalje and playing from 2009 to 2012 for Telge Basket in the top national championship (won in both 2011 and 2012), Zahui moved to America, choosing the University of Minnesota.

During her college years, she recorded important numbers that earned her the Big Ten Co-Player of the Year award in the 2014-15 season. In that year, in the game against Iowa she produced 39 points and 29 rebounds, the best performance ever by a player in the Big Ten Conference. For two consecutive years (2014 and 2015) she was voted Best Defensive Player and included in the All-Conference Team.

In the 2015 WNBA Draft, Amanda was selected by the Tulsa Shock with the second overall pick. After her rookie year, she moved to New York, playing with the Liberty from 2016 to 2021.

In parallel, the new BCC player gained various experiences in Europe: in 2015/16 she played in Turkey with Adana Aski, while the following year she moved to Russia in Orenburg. Her journey in Europe then continued in the Czech Republic, with the USK Prague jersey with which she won the championship (2018) and in Hungary, in Sopron, where she contributed to the success in both the Cup and the championship. In 2019/20 she played in the Chinese tournament, with the Shandong Six Stars, before closing the season in Turkey, at Hatay BB. She then returned to Russia, at Dynamo Kursk, in 2020/21.

Zahui's WNBA career continued with the Los Angeles Sparks, with whom she averaged over 9 points and 5 rebounds in 2021/22, and subsequently with the Washington Mystics and the Indiana Fever.

In Europe, Amanda signs in Turkey, with Fenerbahce, in 2021/22: with her 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds on average she contributes to reaching the EuroLeague Women final, lost against Sopron, while in the same year the team wins the championship. In 2022/23 she wears the Famila Wuber Schio jersey (6.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game), sharing the experience with Elisa Penna who she now finds at BCC Derthona: with the Venetians she wins the Italian Super Cup. The following year Amanda plays in Australia, with the Townsville Fire, while she begins the current season in Poland, in Polkowice.

She played in the EuroLeague Women for seven seasons, and in two years she took part in the EuroCup Women. In her career with the Swedish senior national team she averaged 12.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, contributing to Sweden reaching sixth place at the 2019 edition of EuroBasket Women. With Sweden she played alongside Nathalie Fontaine, who she now finds again in her new adventure. Now she returns to Italy and arrives at Autosped BCC Derthona to begin a new chapter in her journey.
