Bertram Derthona flies to the semi-final of the Frecciarossa Final Eight 2022: the team coached by coach Ramondino, without captain Tavernelli and Wright, after having suffered the initiatives of Trieste in the first quarter, plays a great game on both halves of the pitch, progressively taking away fluidity to the opponent's attack and finding continuity in the shot. Four players in double figures at Derthona: Macura (23 p), Daum (22 p), Sanders (17 p) and Cannon (11 p), demonstrating a solid team performance, a good start for the semi-final scheduled for Saturday February 19th at 21pm.
The match started favorably for Trieste, who consistently found baskets. In the following minutes Bertram finds some defensive countermeasures and collective solutions to stay close to the score: at 10' the score is 23-21. In the second period Tortona's defense increases the intensity and rotation of shots and limits the opponent's attack. In the offensive half of the field, Macura's plays opened an important break, fueled by high percentage shots, which earned them a double-digit lead (36-46) at halftime.
Upon returning from the locker rooms, Allianz reduced their gap to -5 (45-50), before three-point baskets from Sanders and Daum gave the game an important boost. Bertram grinds out the game, progressively widens the gap and closes the third quarter ahead 53-71. In the last quarter Derthona controlled Trieste's comeback attempts and prevailed 82-94.

For my part, congratulations to the players for their excellent attitude, mental strength and ability to withstand the physical impact that a tough and very experienced team like Trieste has expressed since the beginning of the year. Several players found unexpected energy a few days after their excellent performance against Trento. Rotating eight players wasn't easy, so congratulations to the boys again.
