Derthona is strengthened: Riccardo Cattapan is a new Lion

Derthona Basket announces that it has reached an agreement with Riccardo Cattapan, a center born in '97 in the last two seasons in Brindisi.

CAREER – Born in Alba on 5 July 1997, after taking his first steps in his hometown he moved to Virtus Bologna, becoming Italian U17 champion in 2014, the year in which he made his debut in Serie A with the Vu Nere. He also participates in the EuroLeague Basketball International Junior Tournament and is selected among the five Italian players selected to participate in the BWB Europe, a camp that allows young athletes to train and compete with NBA and FIBA ​​players, coaches and legends.

From 2015 to 2017 he played in the Serie B championship with the PMS Moncalieri shirt, with which he won the Under 20 Scudetto in Roseto in 2017, following the victory in the final against Virtus Bologna, before moving to Casale in Serie A2 in the two following years, where he was coached by Marco Ramondino, who he now finds again in Tortona. In 2017/18 they reached the promotion playoff final, losing against Alma Trieste.

In the summer of 2019 he moved to Brindisi, in Serie A, where he remained for the last two seasons playing both the Italian championship and the FIBA ​​Basketball Champions League.

Riccardo also wore the Italy jersey, making the national youth team from Under 16 to Under 20, taking part in the Under 17 European Championship in Ukraine in 2013, the Under 17 World Cup in Dubai and the Under 18 European Championship in Turkey in 2014 and at the European Under 20 Championship in Crete in 2017.

Now he comes to Bertram Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.
