Derthona strengthens: Davide Denegri is Juventus
Bertram Derthona announces that he has reached an agreement with Davide Denegri, who will wear the black and white jersey starting next season. In the last two years in Cremona, the play-guard has been the protagonist of great growth and has contributed to the results achieved by the team.
CAREER – Born in Tortona on 8 May 1998, Denegri took his first steps in the youth sector of Junior Casale, the club with which he made his first team debut in the 2015/16 season. In the first years in Monferrato, he gained experience at senior level both with Serravalle (Serie C) in 2014/15 and with CB Team Basket in the following two years.
In the Junior jersey, Denegri saw his playing time increase season after season, until he became the starting point guard. With the rossoblù team he reached the playoffs in all his seasons, with the exception of 2019/20 in which the Serie A2 championship stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2017/18 he was among the protagonists of the team that won the regular season of the West Group of the A2 championship, producing over 6 points on average in almost 20 minutes of use per match, and reached the promotion final lost 3-0 against Trieste.
Denegri, having concluded his experience in Casale at the end of the 2019/20 season, moved to Ravenna, a team playing in the East Group. In the two years in the OraSì shirt, Davide averaged over 10 points per game: in 2020/21 he crossed the its path precisely with that of Bertram Derthona (then promoted to Serie A) in the playoff quarter-finals. The series, beautiful and passionate, ends with the victory of the Lions in game 5. In the following season, Ravenna leads a top championship in the East Group, finishing in third place behind Scafati and Verona. In the playoffs, after eliminating Torino in the first round, OraSì surrendered to Cantù in the semi-final, then beaten by Scafati in the final.
After two great years, the play-guard born in '98 accepts the proposal of the ambitious Vanoli Cremona, eager to immediately return to Serie A after relegation. With the Lombard team, led on the bench by Demis Cavina, Davide became a key player from the first matches. Vanoli is the great protagonist of the entire season, managing to win the LNP Super Cup, the A2 Italian Cup and promotion to Serie A.
Denegri remains in Cremona also in 2023/24, showing off as one of the best Italian players in Serie A: on his debut in the top flight, in fact he ended the year - in which Cremona achieved salvation - at 12.4 points on average with percentages of absolute shooting excellence (43% from 2 points, 37% from 3 points, 93% from free throws) and 3 assists per game.
Wearing the youth national team jersey, Davide won the silver medal at the World Championships in Cairo in 2017. On that occasion, with 10.5 points, he contributed to the great journey achieved by Italy. Now he comes to Bertram Derthona to start a new chapter in his career.
