Gulliver Supermercati Derthona was defeated in the direct clash against Esse Solar Gallaratese, in the advance of the twentieth day of the Serie B Interregionale Division A, Conference Nord-Ovest championship. The black and white team is caught up in sixth place in the standings, shared by Gallarate itself and Campus Varese, all at 18 points. Despite the home defeat, the race for a place in the Play-in Gold is still open.

The match started off with a tough start at Pala Camagna in Tortona with continuous changes of leadership between the two teams. A triple by Fioravanti just before the buzzer allowed Gallarate to close out in the lead after the first ten minutes of the match. The second quarter opened with a partial score of 0-8 for the visitors, which allowed them to widen the gap and take the maximum lead. Despite Derthona's efforts to reduce the gap, an excellent defense for the visitors and another triple at the buzzer condemned Gulliver to -16 (22-38 at 20').

At the restart, coach Ansaloni's boys took to the field with a different attitude. Good defensive work and quick transitions brought the black and white team close to their opponents under a double-digit disadvantage. Esse Solar, however, responded promptly with two triples by Bloise, keeping the gap intact (39-52 at 30'). In the fourth quarter, the Lions did not give up and placed yet another break to relaunch themselves, but the continuity in attack was lacking and the shots from the arc, together with the opponent's physicality, prevailed, extinguishing any hope of a comeback. Gulliver Supermercati Derthona lost to Gallarate on 59-78, recording a defeat that slowed down its run in the standings.

The next match for Gulliver Derthona will be on Wednesday 29th January at 21.00pm, away at Pala Ravizza against Pallacanestro Pavia.
