Coach Talpo's team returned to winning ways in the Serie B Interregionale championship. The Lions defeated Oleggio 96-75 on the third day of the second half of the season, also overturning the field goal differential from the first leg.
The game got off to a close start, with Oleggio leading 19-20 in the opening minutes. Tortona took their first lead of the game from the free throw line with Bottelli, but the Lombardy team responded immediately, led by high long-range percentages. Late in the first half, baskets by Di Meo and Fogliato allowed coach Talpo's team to close the gap. At halftime, the score favored Oleggio, leading 40-44.
The second half opened at a high pace, with both teams responding blow for blow. The Bianconeri gradually closed the gap to -1, changing the momentum of the game. Oleggio attempted another break, but Josovic stepped up to tie the score at 57-57 with two minutes left in the third quarter. The Lions increased their defensive intensity and, taking advantage of transitions, scored a break that allowed them to close the quarter up by six (66-60). Coach Talpo's team maintained a high tempo in the final quarter and made a significant run. The gap created by the Bianconeri proved insurmountable for Oleggio, and Derthona returned to winning ways, defeating the Lombardy team at home.
The next match in the Interregional Serie B will be on Saturday, February 7th at home to Marnatese at the Pala Camagna.
