Gulliver Supermercati Derthona achieved a very important victory against Campus Varese, valid for the fourth day of the return leg of the Serie B Interregionale championship, which allows the streak of consecutive victories to be extended to three. The black and white team thus rises to 7 victories in the championship and, pending the other results, gets even closer to the top of the table.
After a slow start, in which Derthona struggled to find the way to the basket for almost four minutes, the team managed to close the first quarter with a one-point lead, at 17-16. In the second quarter, although Varese tried to extend the lead, Derthona reacted and closed the first half of the game with a 6-point lead (40-34). Upon returning to the court, Derthona immediately ran away with a 12-0 partial, signed by Farias – Korlatovic. Excellent performance by the two Lions who were decisive in the Tortona lead.
The last quarter saw Gulliver Supermercati control the game with an advantage of 11 points (62-51), then managing to further increase the gap with the opponents, even touching the 16-point margin. Despite a reaction from Varese who, clinging to Assui's baskets, recovered some points, Derthona did not lose concentration and closed the game with a score of 81-71, thus gaining the third consecutive victory in the championship.
The excellent team performance featured Bruno Farias' double double with 16 points scored (6/7 two-pointers, 10 ast) and Armin Korlatovic's impeccability under the basket (19 points – 8/8 two-pointers).
