The victory allows Derthona to climb to 12 points in the standings, thus fueling hopes of direct salvation since it goes to catch up with Gallarate in seventh place (with one more game) leaving behind the same Genoese, Don Bosco Crocetta Torino and Collegno, 10 points behind, waiting for the completion of the round.

Uphill start for the Lions, who suffer a partial of 1-10 in the first 5 minutes of play. The hosts, however, do not let themselves be intimidated, they score an immediate counterbreak taking the lead to close the first period on 18-17.

In the second quarter Gulliver takes control of the game, three consecutive triples allow them to extend and manage the advantage. Despite Genoa's reaction, which reduces the gap thanks to Lomtadze's foul with a basket (34-31), Josovic's bombs and a basket by Aprile on the buzzer at the end of the period bring the black and whites to the break with a +11 (44-33).
